MUSIC MEETS THE LITERARY WORLD

Jake the Philharmonic Dog

A multimedia experience based on the children's book of the same title by Karen LeFrak. Children are invited to learn about many different musical instruments from the perspective of Jake, a jaunty five-year-old terrier with silver whiskers and pointy ears! Throughout the narrated work, musical instruments express Jake barking at car horns, singing with the birds, and even spending time at a grand orchestral hall with his human “dad” Richie, an orchestra’s principal stagehand.

“A charming essay in orchestral color aimed at introducing children to the various instruments… LeFrak creates an educational and entertaining sonic landscape for youth using onomatopoeia as the flutes chirped and the timpani and brass roared.”

Sleepover at the Museum

A multimedia children’s experience with music composed by – and story written by – Karen LeFrak.

“The story is charming and the music accessible and imaginative. With many of the musical illustrations referencing some of the great composers of the past—Prokofiev, Saint-Saëns, or Mussorgsky—LeFrak’s composition retained a sense of purity and simplicity that was fitting to its young target audience.”
